Who knew Saban was such a guitar player?
He starts at around the 2:40 mark.
A storm is a’brewin’
I realize that I haven’t exactly been a stud at keeping this site up-to-date. I also don’t have any intentions (in the short term) to change that effort. However, I just wanted to let you know that I’ve got some interesting thoughts rolling around in my head, regarding what I want to do with this site.
I’ll just say that I want to make it less (at least a little) about me and use it more for giving back. We’ll see how things play out. Right now, it’s just a thought in my head and nothing more.
BTW, for those that are interested in my fitness exploits, I’ve signed up for my first full-marathon. Yikes!
March MADness

Despite having my worst NCAA bracket in the history of me, I have to say that I still enjoyed the month of March. Here are a few of my bracket stats before I move on to discuss the status of my new year resolutions. Number of correctly picked final 4 teams: 1 (thanks, Duke). Number of correctly picked elite 8 teams: 3. Average position in the few pools that I joined: 12.3 out of 14. Shameful as those numbers are, I must admit that it was pretty fun watching the craziness that was this year’s NCAA tournament. More…
February resolution update
Two months into the year and things are definitely going better in regards to my new year’s resolutions. In this post I’ll point out the highlights from the month of February. More…
Quick February resolution update
So I just wanted to take a second to update you on my resolutions half way through February. As you can tell from my last post, p90x was my focus for February. So far we are doing awesome with it! I’ll give specifics at the end of the month. The worst part though is that our “before” pics got lost, so the earliest pics to compare to will be day 16. Argh!
Our budget has been holding strong and my reading has been progressing. I’m not waking up early yet (we do p90x at night) and I’ve yet to dive into Powershell. Basically, the ball is rolling, but there is plenty of room for it to speed up.
Resolutions – January update
Here we are one month into the new year, and I really don’t have much to show for it! In fact, I’ve actually gained a little weight since the start of the new year. I’ve also been treading water with my saving goals. The one area that I have been doing good in is my professional reading goal (have been making good progress on Code Complete). Just about any other way you look at it though, this year has been very disappointing so far. The good news is that can change very quickly. More…

2010 resolutions – personal
This section of resolutions is kind of a catch-all for everything that’s not physical or professional. There was one resolution in this section last year that I felt was huge (saving up for a down payment on a house) and I’m hoping to repeat that effort again this year. These are just general improvements that I would like to see happen. More…
2010 resolutions – professional
2009 was a great year for me professionally. I learned a ton, made some great connections and even got a new job. While I didn’t quite accomplish everything that I had hoped for, the year was definitely successful. In 2010 I’m adjusting my goals a bit. Some of my goals last year were too lofty in my opinion, and actually detracted from what I wanted to accomplish. I’ll go into that more in a little bit. For now, here are my resolutions: More…
2010 resolutions – physical
This category is probably the easiest to make resolutions for. It is no problem to define specific goals that are easily measurable. The challenge comes in when trying to make something that will last all year. I certainly don’t want to repeat what happened last year in terms of the weight roller coaster. That said, I did do pretty good reaching my goals last year, so I think that I’ll use them as a foundation for this year. So here are my physical resolutions for 2010: More…
2009 resolutions – a year in review
As a whole 2009 was one of the most interesting years of my life. There were moments in years past that were more interesting (wedding, graduations, etc), but as a whole, I’d have to say that this year takes the cake. Going into the year I set more goals than I’ve ever done going into a new year and I’d say that played a big role in how this year played out. For 7 months I was all over most of the goals; really kicking butt. Unfortunately I then fell off the wagon and spent the next 5 months leveling things out, so to speak. More…
Blue Chips football highlight video
While we are on the subject (see my last post), I figured this is a good opportunity to share another highlight video I did for one of my intramural teams. This one was actually a project that I did for an honor’s parody class that I took at Bama. As you can see, it’s a parody of the pregame video for Alabama football. I actually used 2 years worth of flag football highlights for this one!

Blue Chips basketball highlight video
I recently came across this gem of a highlight video that I made of our intramural team in college. Honestly, I had forgotten that I even made it. A little background, we used to take our intramurals very seriously. Our team in the video had two guys with their names in the AHSAA record books for being in the top 10 in career scoring. Anyways, I’d always try to get someone at our games to tape us, and I would review the film later. This video is a compilation of our highlights over the course of that particular season (I believe it was 2005). It’s fun to go back and watch this now.

If you follow me on twitter then you likely saw my updates the last couple of days regarding @kcscrawford and I getting our first iPhones. We are Verizon converts that just couldn’t handle the peer pressure anymore. In all seriousness, I don’t know how I managed without one for so long! More…
