About Me
I’m a software engineer for a large company in Birmingham, AL. I graduated from the University of Alabama in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I have worked for a few different companies including an internship at a large medical software company, an assistantship at a nonprofit organization located on-campus at the UA, and a software developer position for a telecommunications company in Birmingham.

Personally, I’m a sports addict, a big Alabama football fan and a bigger Alabama basketball fan. I love to play basketball whenever I can find a competitive game, used to play racquetball regularly and have an on-again, off-again relationship with softball. I used to play a ton of golf, I run whenever I feel fat, and I try to play ultimate frisbee despite my inability to throw a disc with any accuracy whatsoever. Also, I used to play tennis occasionally with my little brother, but then he grew up and, well, he’s really good now.

I’ve been happily married since May 2008 (see: @kcscrawford) and we live in Homewood, AL with our 4 pets (3 cats and 1 dog). When we started getting pets we named them after places one of us had lived. So Loosie was named for Tuscaloosa (Tusca-Loosie) and Curry was named for … Curry (where I grew up). Then Stanley came into the picture and we’ve since abandoned this naming scheme. Nestle is our latest fur-ball. She’s a chocolate lab, so we felt her name was fitting.

I’m an eternal optimist. I get frustrated by negativity of any sort and try too hard to maintain status quo. In real life I’m a poor conversationalist, at least when I’m around people that I don’t know very well. When it comes to software ideas that I have, I tend to suffer from analysis paralysis. It’s an ongoing fight to get myself to stop planning and just start developing. I do make concerted efforts to improve aspects of my life that I feel are lacking and I tend to use this site to extend that effort.
